The Florida Cleft Palate – Craniofacial Association is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization that works to ensure that one day, all children in Florida with cleft lip, cleft palate, or other craniofacial anomalies will have access to state-of-the-art care. The 64th Annual Florida Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association Conference was held on February 28, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the Hilton Mayo Clinic. The event welcomed over 80 attendees and featured 13 speakers, 6 oral abstract presentations, and 8 poster presentations, along with the support of 8 exhibitors and 3 sponsors.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s conference a tremendous success in advancing cleft and craniofacial care across Florida.

Learners interested in joining our team are invited to apply to the FCPA Student Committee. This is a great opportunity to connect with Florida’s cleft and craniofacial professionals while gaining experience in conference planning, fundraising, and community engagement.
Students from all disciplines are welcome. Previous committee members have included trainees in medicine (including pediatrics and surgery), dentistry, audiology, speech therapy, and psychology.

The Florida Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Association recently hosted our 64th Annual Conference in Jacksonville, Florida under the theme “Whole Person Care.” This theme reflects the multidisciplinary philosophy shared by all ten of Florida’s ACPA-approved cleft and craniofacial teams, whose collaborative work ensures that patients and families receive comprehensive, lifelong care.
Throughout 2026, our Board will focus on initiatives that further the mission of the FCPA, including strengthening statewide collaboration, advocating for patients and families, raising public awareness, and supporting fundraising efforts that advance cleft and craniofacial care.
It is a tremendous honor to serve alongside our members and partners as we continue working together to improve outcomes and expand access to care for patients across our great state of Florida.
During Liane Rensing’s 20-week ultrasound, it was discovered that her baby, Mila, had a cleft lip. This diagnosis expanded when Mila was born with a right-sided incomplete unilateral cleft lip and a complete cleft palate.
The first year of her life brought challenges to the Rensing family as they learned to navigate caring for Mila. “We learned how to feed and take care of her with feeding devices like special nipples and bottles,” explains Liane. “We had to figure out how to tape specifically designed appliances to Mila’s nose and forehead to prepare her for her cleft surgeries. Miami felt like our second home since we traveled there for Mila’s numerous surgeries and appointments.”
